Two have extensive grounds and sports facilities: the Borobudur International and the Jakarta Hilton (very long time) but now Hotel Sultan. In addition to Olympic size swimming pools, tennis courts, squash courts, healt clubs, jogging tracks and spacious gardens, they also boast disco and a full complement of European and Asian restaurants. The other hotels in the same category, the mandarin, the Hyatt and the Sahid jaya are newer “city hotels – providing central locations and emphasising superior service and excellent food.

First Class (US$45 to US$100 per night)
There are another half – dozen or so first class hotels in town. The Sari Pasific is centrally located and has a popular coffess shop and deli. The Horizon has a restaurant specialising in seafood. The President Hotel is Japanese operated with several Japanese a supper club with nightly floor shows and a swimming pool garden open to the public (US$8 admission).

At the upper end of moderate price range, the most centrally located are the Transaera and the Sabang Metropilitan (about US$35 and up for a double). The Transaera is quiet, with older spacious rooms and the Monas is known for its good service. The Sabang Metropolitan is convenient for bussiness and shopping.
In Kebayoran Baru, you may opt to stay at the Kemang or the Kebayoran Inn, both popular with frequent visitors for their reasonable prices and quiet, residential surrounding. Or try the Interhouse, centrally located by Kebayoran’s shopping distric, Blok M. There are several hotels in town providing small but clean. Air conditioned rooms for around US$25. These include the Menteng Hotel and the Marco Polo, both in Menteng.

True budget travellers almost invariably stay at, Jl. Jaksa No. 5 (Wisma Delima) or one of the other homestay on that street. In the US$6 to US$8 a night class, the Borneo Hostel around the corner and the Pondok Soedibyo are perhaps cleaner. The nearby Bali International costs more at US$10. At the Royal a double room with fan and breakfast costs US$18, and for a bit more you can get an air conditioned room at the Srivijaya.
