Boats may be chartered to the four uninhabited islands of the Krakatau group from Labuan. Cost in anywhere from US$60 for a small fishing craft, and up to US$200 for a motorised fiberglass launch that carries up to 10 people. Arrangenments can be made through any of the hotels listed above, or at the port. Bring along lunch and refreshments, as it is hot and there is no fresh water out there. The boat trip takes about 5 hours each way, so get an early start in order to have some time to explore the islands.
Most visitors land at the eastern side of Anak Krakatau and then climb up from here to the top of the first ridge for a view into the smoking crater and across to the other three island: Sertung to the west, Small Krakatau to the east and Big Krakatau to the south.
